The chosen candidate will spearhead groundbreaking research initiatives, foster strategic partnerships with global and local tech industries, and lead advanced chip design projects alongside a dedicated design group. Mentoring emerging talent and ensuring the highest standards of technological innovation are core duties. Applicants must hold a PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering and bring a decade of relevant chip design experience. PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant discipline. 10 years of experience in chip design, including significant leadership roles.
2 Consultant PPS-09 01 The Consultant for the NCDC is a highly specialized advisory and leadership role aimed at bridging the gap between academic research and commercial semiconductor industry standards. Similar in scope to the Professor role, the Consultant will drive innovation in chip design and verification processes. This expert will be responsible for overseeing complex design lifecycles, ensuring successful tape-outs, and establishing robust technological frameworks for the center. Working closely with industry partners, the consultant will help position NUST as a regional leader in semiconductor advancements. A PhD in a relevant engineering discipline and at least ten years of significant leadership experience in chip design are required. PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant discipline. 10 years of experience in chip design, including significant leadership roles.
3 Associate Professor PPS-08 01 The Associate Professor will be instrumental in building a dynamic, hands-on learning and research ecosystem for chip training at NUST. This mid-to-senior role involves designing rigorous curricula, executing teaching programs, and carrying out sophisticated chip design tasks with the core engineering group. The faculty member will focus on increasing the pool of highly qualified semiconductor workers in Pakistan by mentoring students through the complex tape-out processes. Candidates must possess a PhD or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering along with over five years of active experience in chip design, showcasing strong analytical problem-solving skills and a passion for academic-industry collaboration. PhD / MS Engineering in EE, CE or relevant discipline. >5 years of experience in chip design and tape-outs.
4 Assistant Professor PPS-07 02 The Assistant Professor at NCDC is a dynamic academic role focused on the practical implementation of chip-design projects and the establishment of a robust training ecosystem. The selected candidate will lead specialized design teams, develop comprehensive content for chip training, and execute rigorous exit testing and reporting. By collaborating with similar setups and engineering faculty, the Assistant Professor will significantly boost the skilled workforce in Pakistan’s semiconductor domain. This position requires hands-on experience with tape-outs and a strong foundation in chip design methodologies. A PhD or MS in EE/CE and excellent communication skills are mandatory to effectively instruct and mentor engineering students. PhD / MS Engineering in EE, CE or relevant discipline. 5 Lab Engineer PPS-07 01 The Lab Engineer is a critical technical position responsible for the seamless operation and maintenance of the NCDC’s specialized electronic chip testing laboratories. This role involves the meticulous procurement of sophisticated lab equipment after thorough technical comparisons, maintaining high safety standards, and assisting project teams with complex lab experiments. The engineer will also design and test ICs for various applications while developing end-to-end policies for providing testing facilities to external users. A BS or MS in Engineering or Project Management, coupled with over three years of hands-on experience managing EDA tools and chip design lab equipment, is strictly required. BS / MS Engineering in EE, CE, MS Project Management or relevant. >3-year experience of working in a chip design or similar lab. Knowledge of EDA tools.
6 File Management Clerk PPS-03 01 The File Management Clerk provides essential administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth daily operations of the NUST Chip Design Centre. This BPS-03 equivalent role entails accurately receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail, as well as preparing outgoing courier packages. The clerk will expertly utilize modern filing systems to preserve both physical documents and digital records. Additionally, the role demands reliable data entry into electronic document management systems while maintaining strict organizational confidentiality regarding sensitive research materials. Candidates must hold at least an FA, FSc, or equivalent diploma, demonstrating strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to office management. At least FA / FSc / Diploma. Reliable data entry skills, proficiency in file management systems, and understanding of office confidentiality.
